Look, I get it. Who am I? Rae Hoffman, Owner of AMI House Buyers. I wasn’t born into the real estate life. In fact, I once went through a foreclosure.
I bought a home in Florida in 2006, right at the top of the market. A few months later, the market came crashing down. My county’s employment was primarily generated from new construction, and it was financially devastated by the crash. I would move shortly after to an area with more opportunity, unable to sell the home I’d left behind.
After years of paying the mortgage on an upside down, empty home without any market relief in sight, I stopped making payments, and the bank foreclosed. I’d had years of success under my belt, but the real estate market showed no mercy. I was frustrated at not being able to fix the issue. I felt utterly helpless.
So when I say I get it, I really do. Sometimes life happens. It’s one of the reasons I choose to work with distressed homeowners today.

I went on to found a successful marketing agency, enter the field of real estate investing, became a real estate agent, and eventually ended up in the position to be buying homes in cash without the seller paying any closing costs or commissions — and helping homeowners find help in tough situations.
Without experiencing that past, I wouldn’t have my present life as I know it. I wasn’t born a Texan, but I got here as quick as I could.
When Harvey hit, we did the only thing we know how to do — put our boots on the ground and worked to help the community rebuild. We volunteered our time wherever it was needed and raised over $20,000 via friends and colleagues to help Harvey-affected families in the greater Houston area.
